Co-GMing
As I’ve mentioned, Angela and I are planning on jointly running a game. We’ve both been part of GM teams in LARPs, but neither of us has done this in a tabletop setting. In some ways, I expect this will be easier. Communication should be simple, since we’ll both be around the same table. That said, I’m wary of pitfalls such as inconsistencies in rulings and such.
If anyone has any suggestions, tips, or warnings… well… we’d be grateful for them.
I don’t know squat about this but I suggest you split everything you do as a GM and assign one of you a primary and the other a secondary.
I’d probably split the game into two parts, combat and everything else. Assign a primary to each. The combat secondary can move minis around and jump in when necessary, looking up salient rules and weighing in on discussions of all sorts.
The everything else secondary can be there to run music, minor NPCs like shopkeepers, and again weigh in when appropriate.
It’s an interesting idea. Let us know how it goes.
Here’s what I’ve read up on before starting a similar project myself…
